These cookies always come out big and fat and easy to decorate! We make them every Christmas.
1 cup butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 tsp. vanilla
3/4 tsp. salt
3 eggs, well beaten
1 cup sour cream
1 tsp. fresh lemon juice
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
6 cups flour
Cream butter and sugar. Add vanilla, salt and eggs. Mix thoroughly. Add sour cream and soda. Mix. Add flour. Roll and cut into shapes. (Dough may be chilled for easier handling) Bake at 400 degrees for 7-8 minutes until lightly brown. Makes 4 dozen.
Icing
3 cups powdered sugar
1/4 cup soft butter
1 tsp. vanilla
Stir ingredients together and add enough hot water or milk until icing is of spreading consistency. Add food coloring.
