Beefy Pita Pockets

1/2 lb. extra lean ground beef
1 med. onion, minced
1/4 cup coarsely cracked wheat (crack whole, uncooked wheat kernals in blender for 30 seconds)
2 cups tomatoes (canned or fresh)
1 tsp. sugar or honey
1/2 tsp. oregano
1/2 tsp. salt
1 Tbsp. chopped fresh parsley
4 whole wheat pitas
Alfalfa sprouts or shredded lettuce
1 tomato chopped
Brown meat and onion. Stir in dry, uncooked cracked wheat. Add tomatoes, sugar, oregano salt and parsley. Simmer 20-30 min. stirring often until thickened. Spoon into pita bread and top with sprouts or lettuce and tomato.
